Poland joins the global microdrama debate
One of the highlights was the Global Microdrama & Vertical Leaders’ Summit, which Łukasz co-hosted leading the session “Cracking Europe’s Vertical Market”
The summit began with a presentation by Maria Rua Aguete of Omdia. Her latest research challenged several assumptions about vertical storytelling: men now represent 54% of microdrama users in the UK, while usage in Poland is already twice as high as in Spain.
The figures place Poland among Europe’s leading markets for the format—and show why CEE needs to be part of the international microdrama discussion.
Building on Maria’s presentation, Łukasz and his fellow panellists examined how the format can develop into a sustainable business in Europe. Local stories will matter, but so will distribution, monetisation and partnerships with broadcasters, streaming services, telecom operators, advertisers and established media brands.

Channels, FAST, content and new distribution models
Microdrama was only one part of MediaSpurs’ agenda in Cannes.
The team held meetings across linear television, FAST, streaming, content distribution and platform partnerships—connecting international media companies with opportunities in Poland and the wider CEE region.
Across the market, one shift was increasingly visible: broadcasters, streaming platforms, YouTube, FAST channels and creator-led businesses are no longer operating in separate worlds. Audiences move between them freely, and commercial strategies must begin to do the same.
Martyna also contributed MediaSpurs’ European distribution perspective to the Korean Content & Entertainment Tech Roundtable, focused on practical routes for bringing international content and technology into European markets.

From Cannes visibility to business in CEE
MIPCOM gave MediaSpurs the opportunity to contribute from the stage while continuing its core work: supporting international channel and content owners with market entry, distribution, platform partnerships and business development across Poland and CEE.
Łukasz also discussed the rise of microdramas and the opportunities developing across the region in an interview published in TVBIZZ’s MIPCOM edition.
Cannes started the conversations. Now it is time to turn the right ones into business.
